He asked if law enforcement officers feel it’s too much to write tickets for this violation, or whether they don’t have the resources to write these tickets.Bailey suggested that volunteers could write tickets for missing front plates, and he questioned whether the state should just eliminate this requirement entirely.
Related Articles.A: We asked California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Carapia, a spokesman for the CHP’s Inland Division, about this issue, bearing in mind that he can’t speak for all police agencies and we can’t ask all of them either because there are way too many. California law says that if you are issued two license plates for your vehicle, one must go on the front of the vehicle.Carapia said the CHP enforces this law when possible but resources are limited and officers prioritize violations that cause fatalities and injuries, such as speeding and unsafe lane changes. “As officers we have to prioritize our daily activities and we focus more on life-saving activities.
This is not to say we don’t enforce the license plate law,” Carapia said. “The license plate is a fix-it ticket. We are still enforcing it when we can.”. The CHP gets help from senior citizens volunteers for certain tasks, but volunteers are not allowed to enforce the law on the highways or streets. These CHP volunteers typically help at community events and in the CHP offices, Carapia said.

An emergency contract is in place to dig a new well for this rest area and the work is underway but the new well will not be functional for several months. Kane rest area north of Barstow has also been experiencing water issues. The northbound 15 rest area is open at this time. A new facility for the southbound 15 rest area is under construction and is expected to be completed by the beginning of 2019.Caltrans apologized for any inconveniences to the public while the rest areas have been closed.“We have taken measures to provide services and temporary repairs to try and keep services available when long-term closures are expected,” Caltrans District 8 Spokeswoman Terri Kasinga said in a statement.
